My first year...

So as this day comes to an end, I want to reflect on my past year of posting videos and such...

A year ago today I posted my first video... Boomin Banana Plays: Dead Space 2 - Part 1. It was sloppy, the video quality was not so great, and my editing skills were subpar, but I was enjoying myself for the first time in months. I started this whole youtube thing because I had lost my job and my job search was not going so well, so I used the video making as a means of escape and a hobby of sorts... I have posted 42 more videos since then, and I still love doing it to this day. I still put as much effort in to it when I had 0 subscribers as I do now with my whopping 45. I love that 45 people wanted to subscribe to me, and if I never gained another one I would still continue putting the same quality content out that I have since day one... Whether that quality is all that good is another question, but I digress! The point is that the people I play games with, played games with, and will play games with in the future will help me along this whole video making thing along with my faithful few who watch my videos and give feedback when they can. And to all of you people, I thank you. I hope I can gain some more subscribers, and maybe some popularity, in this next year and I look forward to every single minute I get to spend in an attempt to entertain myself and more importantly all the people who have ever watched my videos and even so much as chuckled at my stupidity.

Scurry Time with Cassafras89: F.E.A.R. 2

Here is a little video from a gaming session a couple months back. Cassie and I decided to play a little bit of FEAR 2 one night and we recorded it for the hell of it. So my loyal followers I have some good news! I finally have a job! What does this mean for my youtube channel and this blog? It means I am going to have more money to spend on video games, keeping my PC up to date, and getting some hard drives to be able to store more footage on! Also it means I will be spending less time gaming than I have in recent memory, but that just means that I will have to prioritize recording and editing whenever I get the chance. I will be uploading and having blog posts just as much as I did in the past, but it could take me a bit to get used to working again, seeing as it has been over a year since I've had a job! CRAZY!

Boomin Banana Plays: Left 4 Dead - Dead Air with Cassafras89

It feels like I haven't uploaded a video in a long ass time! Oh wait, it has been like 2 weeks... Frickin Borderlands 2 and Battlefield 3! Anyway, here is a video where me and my girlfriend Cassie play Left 4 Dead. We play on easy, because she does not play video games every day like me, let alone ones that have zombies running at your face all the time! Overheating CPU's and the rage they cause me.

Wellllllllllllllllllll it's been a bit since I put up an update post, so here we are!


Not all that much to update you all on as it pertains to exciting news, but I figured I would just let you all know what my plans are for the next few videos so all the 15 people that usually watch them can be well informed on the happenings to come! HA! Anyway, I am still struggling with the second Grey video and it is realllllly discouraging me. If I wasn't so OCD, I would just say screw it and not make the video as the FRAPS video files are taking up a lot of room on my hard drive and I am sick of my computer overheating and shutting down while trying to process the edited down clips in to a video. I have compressed the videos down in to a much smaller file size now, so I am hoping things will go smoother and I will have the video out by tomorrow. But with how things have gone, I'm not gonna rule out my computer shitting out on me regardless of the extra effort I took with making the files smaller.

As for videos after Grey, I can only see myself putting out a Battlefield 3 Awesome Game because I have one that I've been sitting on for awhile and one that I am currently working on. So the 2 people that enjoy my Battlefield 3 videos can bubble with excitement with that bit of news!

After that? Who the hell knows... I still have plenty of games I haven't made videos on, including Deadly Premonition which is just so bad in such a great way. That leaves me to say what I usually say about future projects in these updates and just end it with a who knows! I seem to get inspiration for videos out of nowhere so I am sure I will think of something when the time comes, but until then I will continue pissing myself off editing Grey clips and then enjoy some Battlefield 3 editing until I figure shit out!

As I was playing Battlefield 3 and recording for the hell of it/to gather footage for my next Adventures in Battlefield video I enjoyed a match on the map Wake Island... Hackers: The Douche Bags behind the in-game Avatars

Hello all. This is a soapbox post where I am going to pose a question or two (maybe) about the type of gamer who decides to ruin any given game for everyone, and maybe answer that/those questions since the feedback on this blog is... Well, what feedback? Ha!

So after debating all day as to what I wanted to play, I decided after 3 in the morning to play Borderlands. Brilliant game, cannot compliment it enough, and I would say that if I were to make a list of my top -insert number here- favorite games of all time, that it would be up towards that tippy top. Since I can never seem to pick official favorites in any order I doubt you will ever see me do that, but nonetheless it has been a favorite of mine since it came out in 2009. The looting, the shooting, the RPG skill trees, the bazillions of guns, the art style, and the fantastic humor of this game make it a perfect game for me to just play. Sure, if I get some stupid teammates, or lag, it can get frustrating, and you can guarantee to see a Borderlands video of me just having a good time in the near future, but I noticed that playing it relaxed me. I tore through hundreds of enemies and picked up all the loot that I could get my grubby little hands on, and I was having such a great time for the first time in a while! Then... The douche bags came out in full force. With their game ruining modded shields that have nearly infinite capacity, and their modded guns that kill every single enemy in one shot, they are just the worst thing about Borderlands and any other game they decide to ruin by hacking. I mean the point of video games is to have a good time, yes, and if they have to go to means outside of the game to create items and weapons to make themselves far stronger than the game ever intended anyone to be then so be it. But to ruin someone else's experience with your false items is very uncool.

I have beaten that game up and down, left and right, and any other way that one can think of several times over. So it's not like I'm trying to make progress in the game on my own. I'm the top level, I have great equipment, guns, class mods, grenade mods, and shields that were all gotten from loot drops or loot chests in-game. I have a blast playing in my single player campaign even though the enemies are tough and I can still get my ass handed to me from time to time, but that is the point. You learn different ways to overcome the stuff that the game throws at you. A different strategy, different gun with a different ammo type, or running the enemy over with a vehicle and laughing maniacally while doing so, not going to your computer and booting up a program that modifies your save game to include crazy guns that you create. If Gearbox intended for you to be able to do that, they would have released an official version.

I am just perplexed as to why anyone would do this? There is no sense of competition, though every asshole I get in to a server with seems to think they need to show how cool they are by challenging me to duels to show off the gun that will kill me in one or two shots that they created AND DID NOT FIND IN THE GAME!!! Despite that, there is no counter showing who kills more, there are no rewards for being the best, and no one would care if there were! These people are just lame-o's who think they are cool for using something that breaks in to the game's code and screws over the point of the game. Which is to progress through the story and become stronger as you go along, AND to have a laugh and a good time with your pals, or random people you meet in the game.Simple as that. These people find a need to be the best in-game because in their lives they are not the best and never will be. Or they are just natural born douche knuckle mcshit stains. And those people can bite the big one.

Well all that's left to say about this is that they can all fuck a cactus and pour bleach in their wounded anuses afterwards. Thank you very much for reading, ladies and gentlemen.

Juuuuuuuuuuuuust great...

Well children, it looks like I won't be able to post videos for awhile...  I spent all of yesterday till this morning trying to fix my computer, but it looks like one of, if not both of, my hard drives have crapped out. I've tried every trick under the sun, but it looks like unless some friggin miracle happens I will be losing all of my data. So here's to hoping I get a job and can buy a new hard drive or two very soon. I will try to keep everyone updated on the progress of this freaking crap... I'm not looking forward to having to redo all the graphical stuff I had in my Boomin Banana folder... Damnit.

Thoughts on E3 2012

Ok, so among my the people who know me I have been vocal of my disappointment as a whole in this year's E3. I feel as if there was not enough big surprises. Everything that I was excited for had already been revealed within weeks, months, or even up to a year before this expo, and I think that is what makes the overall feel of the show that of disdain.

Now if anyone DID surprise me, and show that they could keep something awesome under wraps, it would be Ubisoft. They wowed me with their demo of a new IP called Watch Dogs. Very awesome concept, and I am excited to be able to play it when it does come out. As for the games already announced, or leaked, that I am looking forward to I would say that Borderlands 2 has to be the top of the list. I loved the first one, and put tons of time in to that with friends just looting, laughing, and shooting my way through tons of bandits. The second one looks to be the same thing times 1000! Also, Dead Space 3! Introducing co-op into the series is something me and my friends have talked about since the second game came out, and the fact that it doesn't effect the game negatively if you decide to play it the old fashioned solitary route makes it even more awesome! Other games I found noteworthy are Tomb Raider, the newly announced and yet to be showcased Dead Island: Riptide, Resident Evil 6, Halo 4 (shocking), Assassin's Creed 3, and The Last of Us (PS3!? Whaaaat!?), and maybe Medal of Honor Warfighter... I haven't heard many good things about it, and it looks to just be coasting off the success of other modern shooters.

There were some nice downloadable things showcased as well and I will just briefly mention them before getting in to the best part. My dislikes. The Battlefield 3 premium announcement was not a surprise, but I want it very badly. Getting all their downloads for a bit cheaper is just lovely. A game coming to Xbox Live this summer called Deadlight looks promising. It's kind of a sidescrolling mix of Assassin's Creed and zombies, so you can't go wrong!

Ok, so the absolute worst part of the whole expo... Nintendo. They completely dropped the ball. I am never really impressed with their lineup at all, but this year they were the only ones showing a next gen console and they just blew it. "Hey we have a console with great potential, so what should we do with it? Make the same cartoony crap, and rely on the third party publishers to really use our console and stupid tablet controller to it's full potential!" Yeah, they did not show me anything that will even remotely make me want to pick up this console this Holiday season. Nintendo... You made the NES, the SNES, and the N64... WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU!?

So that is the gist of my thoughts on E3, but there are other games I didn't mention that could turn up on my radar. They just haven't shown me enough yet to have me convinced! Hope those who actually read this enjoyed my opinion, of which holds no merit other than to myself! I should have my last Cry of Fear video up tomorrow, and then maybe a rage video... OR Amnesia: The Dark Descent... I've been looking forward to playing that business!

Boomin Banana Plays : Cry of Fear - Part 1

Yeah... I lied. I became very bored one day and decided to play through Cry of Fear so that I could scare the bejeezus out of myself. I regret that decision. HA! This mod for Half-Life 1 is made by some Swedish fellas called Team Psykskallar and let me tell you... These guys don't screw around. They have made another mod in the past called Afraid of Monsters, which I plan on playing too, but this is their most visually and story polished of the two.

I'll shut up now so you can enjoy me screaming like a girl!





So I hope you enjoyed the video, and will enjoy the next two parts I put out of my playthrough of this game! As I hinted the last post, I have been dealing with some crap in my personal life that has left me feeling bummed and sometimes worse than bummed, but rest assured that these videos will be made! Hello there! I just wanted to let anyone who reads this and watches my videos know that I am going to be taking a week or two off of making videos. I will be back to making mediocre videos, but I just feel burnt out on videos games at the moment. Life is infringing on my fun, so I will sort it out and be back soon enough.

Welllllllllll then...

Hello my loyal few! Here's another update for you all!

I am not sure what I am gonna put out after this next video, which is another installment in my Adventures in Battlefield series. Since my external hard drive died a few months ago, I lost alot of footage to many games, and most of it was co-op stuff that can't be replaced now. Although I get no feedback on this blog, I am going to ask anyway, what should I do next? Is everyone content with me putting out stuff where I play all by my lonesome? If not, then that kinda sucks because I don't really have any co-op material currently, and will not have any in the future. Save for Resident Evil 5 footage, but I am fairly sure I'm gonna delete all of that crap. So all this update is good for is telling you all that I have no clue what I'm gonna do next. I could keep on putting out Battlefield 3 footage, and try to sneak some Rage videos in every now and then till I figure out my next move. Or maybe I could give another shot at playing Cry of Fear and recording that... We shall see.

Until further notice, expect mostly Battlefield 3 footage, because I have that coming out of my frickin ears at the moment. Sorry in advance if that is not your bag!

Battlefield 3: Awesome Game #1 - Sniping and Knifing galore

I had planned on my next video being another Adventures in Battlefield, but that was before I had this fantastic match from two nights ago. I reckon this can be the start of a new series of videos where I upload the rare matches where I either have loads of fun, kick lots of ass, or both! I had to cut the recording down to be able to upload it, but nothing important got cut. The boring stuff, and deaths that had no real entertainment value attached were cut, so only the good stuff remains. The end product, at almost 20 minutes, is about half of what the original recording was. So enjoy me making weird noises and "singing" nonsense. Yes, this is what I do every time I play Battlefield 3... And every other game... That and yell. A lot.

Russian Guyovich and Indecision

Seems like it's been awhile since I posted on here, but it has only like a week and a few days. Hm. Well anyway, usually I update you on the progress of my latest video, but there really is no progress to speak of. I have some Battlefield 3 footage, but the latest patch more or less ruined my fun with that game. So here's to hoping I can change my strategy and begin enjoying it again, because I love making those videos. On the scary game front, I had my buddy Anthoney help me decide on a game to play and he chose Metro 2033. Not as scary as I'd hoped, but I might be able to squeeze a video out of it for the bad Russian accents and a few jump scares. After that, who knows... I am bad at deciding on what game to record gameplay of because sometimes the ones I that I think are gonna be awesome for a video end up not being as enjoyable to watch as I'd hoped.

So, my loyal readers I hope that this reluctance to play Battlefield 3 and inability to decide on what game to play for you all does not stretch in to a longer than usual video drought from me. I will try to force myself to decide on another scary game after Metro 2033 and maybe even force myself to play a little Battlefield 3 for the lawls. Or the stroke I am no doubt bringing nearer each session. I hope you all are doing well and I will get on that Metro video as soon as I can! Perhaps Monday or Tuesday... Perhaps.

Boomin Banana Rages: Bioshock 2

My fellow gamers, I am here to present you with a video of something we have all experienced ourselves or witnessed at one point or the other... Rage. Full on red faced, vein popping, blood pressure raising, stinky-stinky rage. I am the poster child for video game rage when it comes to anything competitive. I rarely rage-quit, but that is only because I'm a stubborn bastard. Anyway, this is the start of a new series of mine where I will showcase some rage fits I have while playing whatever game that pisses me off at a given moment... The first being Bioshock 2... The multiplayer. Loved the single player, HATE the multiplayer. Horrible, horrible, laggy, unbalanced, ass bag of crap. Anyway, here it is!

Recent goings on... Or lack thereof

Harro durr peoples. I figured I would give an update on my recent inactivity on here. I streamed the other night, but other than that I have not been working on any videos. Why you ask? Because my external hard drive shat itself and is now dead. That hard drive is not necessarily required to record or edit my videos, it just makes it much easier. I have limited hard drive space, and every 15-20 minute video of whatever it is I record takes up a gig of space, so that can pile up if I'm making a video with many clips in it spread out over lots of matches, like Battlefield 3. So, I am gonna try to focus on one game at a time until I am able to somehow fix my external hard drive, or get a new one. Also, for anyone in the market for a hard drive I will say that I had no problems until now with my Western Digital, BUT take in to account that their customer service is horrible. Absolutely zero help.

So, I will try to release something soon, maybe a Bioshock 2 multiplayer rage video. I will try to record some of that soon... If I could get away from playing Mass Effect 3 long enough. Ha!

Look for a post sometime soon for another Cry of Fear stream as well! Not many people watched, but there were more than before, so I will do it again! Thanks for watching and supporting!

Boomin Banana Plays: Mass Effect 3 Demo - Multiplayer

It took longer than it should have, but I got it done. This is a short video, but that is only because of the nature of this game's multiplayer. It is a horde style game mode, so it doesn't leave much possibility for funny stuff to happen. Most of it is just the same stuff over and over. Now playing it and experiencing it is not boring in the least and I absolutely love that they added this to Mass Effect 3, but for a person to be watching it I know it could be a bit boring had I made this video any longer. I'm, of course, playing this with my pals Anthoney and Ariel, but a few others make an appearance as well. So, here it is!  Hope you enjoy me laughing too much at ragdoll physics!

Recent Tent Pitching

Hello my pretties. I bring you excitement from my neck of the woods!

First off, I am still in the process of working on both my Mass Effect 3 co-op video, and my newest Adventures in Battlefield 3 video, however the former is beginning to be less and less likely. Mass Effect 3's co-op is super great, and I implore you all to go download the demo and give it a try, but I'm not getting much footage as it pertains to funny or cool moments. The game mode, at it's core, is very monotonous. As is every horde mode type game mode. That is never a bad thing, it just makes for very rare moments of hilarity and excitement. So, stay tuned on that. I'm going to try to play once more with my pals to try and get the last bit of footage... Doesn't help when you play with tired and/or grumpy co-op partners though. *cough cough* Battlefield 3, however, is going great. All the footage for this video has been gone through and the golden geese, or my shitty versions or golden geese, have been selected and the major editing has begun. I actually took a break from it to write this.

As for the other excitement I wanted to share, I actually have been getting a great amount of traffic on my channel due to one video in particular. My Gears of War 3 glitch video. I submitted it to the Gamefails channel, run by Roosterteeth, and they put my clip up! Since I commented on the video, the original longer version on my channel began getting lots of views by my standards. I have also gained subscribers who are not personal friends. Hello to you if you're one of those people reading this now! I was motivated before, but now that I have more people who have enjoyed my videos I will try even harder. The comments have been super supportive, and have made my day everytime I get a new one. Seriously, thank you all! For someone who has had no video editing experience until last September, you have all made me feel confident in my abilities. Can't say thanks enough!

Anyway, look forward to more videos soon! I am excited for the future, even if all that happens with this is that I get make people laugh and be happy. That's what it's all about!

Funny Gears of War 3 Moment!

This was a fun little surprise from last night's gaming session! We were just chugging along in Gears 3, and all of the sudden my character remembered he had a birth defect. It just slipped his mind for the entire first part of the game, I guess! Enjoy!

Boomin Banana Plays: F.E.A.R. 3 co-op with Mermaid90

So here it is! The final video in my series looking at the main 3 games in the F.E.A.R. series. I might play the non-canon F.E.A.R. Files games sometime, but that will be for another day! Now compared to the others, this is more of a fun video than a scary one. I don't get frightened quite as badly, or as often, but it was still a fun time! My friend Ariel joined me for this co-op adventure, and will definitely be in some of my future videos because I enjoy trolling her so very much. HA!

Moving and other things. Penis.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I bid you a warm welcome to my blog and am glad you're reading this post. For it will be both informative, and highly interesting in it's subject matter. Actually I lied, this is just a quick update from my last post. I am/still am in the process of moving, so my F.E.A.R. 3 video that I spoke of in the last post will still be coming, but I had hoped to have it done and posted by yesterday or so. Alas, it is not done! FEAR not, for we are in the last bit of moving and I will be able to devote longer times to fine tuning the final draft of the video. 

After that I have decided to make another Battlefield 3 video. Whether that is an Adventures in Battlefield video, or a new series featuring the co-op highlights of me and my buddy Anthoney, who knows. So look forward to F.E.A.R. 3 in the near future, and some sweet Battlefield 3 action in the not as near future.

Scaring myself yet again!

So I've been getting ready to release 3 videos here in the next 2 weeks or so, all dedicated to the F.E.A.R. series. I just finished the co-op for F.E.A.R. 3 last night, I am about halfway through the first one and have yet to start the second one. The videos for the first and third F.E.A.R. are in progress though, so it is all up to how fast I can cut the clips together!

After that, who knows! Could be Left 4 Dead, Dead Island, or maybe another Battlefield 3 video! Depends on what I can get that makes me laugh.
